Super Summer in Yuma, Arizona A Weekend of Fun! Summer in Yuma means fun on the Colorado River, spectacular sunrise walks in the wetlands, downtown shopping and dining, theatre performances and movies, and exploring the historic sites such as the Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park. In celebration of the warm summer months and all the fun our guests have splashing about on the Colorado River, we offer a special River Package during the summer season. The package is $159, and includes a 3-day / 2-night stay for two, a full cooked-to-order breakfast each morning, plus a $25 gift certificate for the onsite Yuma Landing Bar & Grill. Here’s What a Summer Weekend in Yuma Looks Like! Arrive Friday Afternoon for Food, Music and a Good Night’s Sleep Check in to the Coronado Motor Hotel, and get settled and refreshed in your room. Shake off your drive with a dip in the cool swimming pool, then head on over for Happy Hour at the Yuma Landing Bar & Grill. Happy Hour runs Monday-Friday from 2pm-6pm. While you’re there enjoying your favorite beverage, take a look at all the photo collection showcasing Yuma’s history and all the memorabilia. The Yuma Landing is on the site where the first airplane touched down in Arizona, and there’s a state statue outside the restaurant in honor of the pilot Robert G. Fowler who landed the Wright Model B Biplane on October 25, 1911. Enjoy a delicious dinner and kick up your heels with live music from one of our local bands. Your room is only a few steps away, with a clean and comfortable bed, TV and free wi-fi for your convenience. Saturday is Play Day! Start your day with a full cooked-to-order breakfast at the Yuma Landing Bar & Grill, and then pack your cooler for a day of water activities on the Colorado River! If you brought your boat (we have plenty of boat parking), there are river access areas in the nearby Mittry Lake Wildlife Area, and Squaw Lake and Senator Wash in the Imperial Dam region. You spend a nice relaxed day floating down the river in a tube, kayak or canoe. There are access points at the confluence of the Gila and Colorado Rivers, Gateway Park, and at Centennial Beach in the West Wetlands where you can also go fishing, picnic or barbecue. The City of Yuma Parks and Recreation Department offers guided canoe and kayak trips for groups of 10 people or more, at $20 per person. Call (928) 373-5234 for details and reservations. For a tubing experience, call Yuma River Tubing at (928) 750-0247 for details. End the day with a cocktail at sunset, and dinner in historic downtown Yuma. You may want to enjoy a show at the Historic Yuma Theatre or perhaps some casino entertainment at one of the three nearby casinos. Sunday History Tour If you’re an early riser, take a sunrise stroll along the Colorado River in the East Yuma Wetlands where you’ll see a variety of birdlife. After breakfast at the Yuma Landing Bar & Grill, come take a tour at the onsite Casa De Coronado Museum where we feature travel memorabilia, and regional historic photos and articles. Then, explore Yuma’s other historic sites such as the Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park, the Quartermaster Depot State Historic Park, Pivot Point Interpretive Plaza, and see the Mormon Battalion Statue next to the butterfly garden in the West Wetlands Park. This is great place to have a picnic lunch and watch the birds in the hummingbird garden, before you get back on the road to home. See You Soon!
